Trying to fit in
I’m wondering why almost everyone I know is on some kind of antidepressant or anti-anxiety medication, and the rest are suffering from chronic stress-related illnesses and get sick too often to be normal. (I’m including myself here too). I am rapidly coming to the inescapable conclusion that when everyone is sick, perhaps it’s not us as individuals to blame. We all think that something is wrong with us. But when everyone and everything is sick, maybe it’s not us at all. Maybe the world we’re living in is sick. We’re natural beings trying to fit into an unnatural world. Everyone raves about modern society with all its trappings and systems of efficiency being so great. But if it’s so great then why is everyone sick and on drugs trying desperately to barely “survive”. Think about it.
Facebook marketing propoganda
Well, I’ve successfully managed to go a whole week without video-documenting something. Hooray! (My friends convinced me to stay away from video blogging while recovering from dental surgery this time).
But what will I distract myself with if I’m not making documentary videos about random stuff?
Facebook.
…Feel the addictiveness.
It kind of shits me that Superwall has become yet another avenue to spread meaningless forwarded drivel/ aka spam rather than being an avenue for conversation and relationship building [over the internet] which I suspect it was originally intended to be (…or something like that).
Tonight’s my favourite marketing lecturer’s birthday, and that got me thinking about all the cool stuff she taught us about Integrated Marketing Communication, and how marketing has to change from the obsolete methods of yesteryear; Niche marketing vs. mass marketing; 1 on 1 relationship building rather than blanket advertising which treats everyone like a faceless clone. They have no choice if they want to sell stuff now. Generation-Y public caught onto what they were doing before, and are naturally suspicious of mass advertising (or of anyone who assumes they understand their individual needs and wants when clearly they don’t).
Anyway, I was thinking that all the forwarded chain letters on Facebook are kinda like the mass marketing of yesteryear which everyone hates so much (kinda like it but not). It’s the whole “lets send a bunch of stuff out to hundreds of random people to make it look like we care about them as a person, but really we don’t give an arse, as long as they see it comes from us and hence they think of us-albeit briefly- so as to increase our brand awareness”. Am I right??
P.S. Just to be crazy/ random, here’s me with a sparkly pink butterfly and a boat I’m thinking of buying…
2 commentsNew blogs, Old Blogs, and Secrets Exposed…

Okay, time to fess up… this is not my only blog. Spacefairy.com is merely the latest in a long line of digital archives which span several years. I occasionally blog elsewhere, under a pseudonym.
My last “secret” blog (which wasn’t very secret) was my “Naughty!” blog (which, I was informed by male readers wasn’t very naughty). I kind of stopped updating it due to all the online stalkers it was generating, but you’re welcome to read it for a laugh. www.bitofspice.blogspot.com
Soon afterward, I launched my “Magickal Lightworker” blog, which would detail some of my experiences studying metaphysics, magick (-spelled with a “k”), and psychic development. www.magicklightworker.blogspot.com
As if that wasn’t enough, I also set up an Australian news blog for the group “Indigo’s in Action”, which was set up by a friend in America.
www.ozindigo.blogspot.com
When my “Naughty!” blog launched, I felt the need to keep the sexy-goddess side of me hidden from the public, for fear of attracting undue judgment and misunderstanding among associates in the spiritual community.
You see, there’s two sides to Me. One side is deeply spiritual, and would love nothing more than to sit in a cave contemplating the mysteries of the universe while studying ancient magickal texts. This side of me is quite publicly known in certain circles, and on occasion, best-selling authors have mentioned me in their books and invited me to speak at their events. There was even a time where I wrote an advice column in a respected national magazine. My articles appeared alongside such respected authors as Dr. Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer PhD., and Louise Hay. I worked with Doreen Virtue PhD. a number of times on her Australian tour. This side of me has friends in high places. My favourite publishing house knows who I am. When I eventually get focused enough to finish my own book it will probably be a best-seller.
Then there’s the other side of me, which some call my “incarnated elemental” side. This is the me which giggles while browsing books in the “naughty” section, the me which lacks sacred regard for the English language and makes up her own words, and the me which likes to visit strip clubs on occasion (See post “Epic University Adventures #1: The strip Club).
These two “sides” of me seem to have been getting along fine until now, and are all a part of my personality and “charm”.
So why am I still afraid to explore both “sides” of myself in the same place? It’s only old societal dogma which said that sex and spirituality don’t go together. Well in case you haven’t already guessed, I often have little regard for tradition.
But is it good business sense to write a book about spirituality when one has a “naughty” blog on the side? (Even though it’s not very naughty).
Is it okay to combine them? Or will I be burned at the stake again? (Because it kind of sucked last time, you know…)

“Time Traveller” Busted for Inside Trading on Wall Street
Okay, so I was doing online research for a completely unrelated university assignment, when I discovered this rather “interesting” news article (Click here to watch it on Yahoo TV). What do you guys think? It did make me wonder… (fraking hell, don’t they have Science-Fiction in the future? Doesn’t this guy know about the space-time-continuum? ;p)
Time Traveller Busted for Inside Trading on Wall Street

NEW YORK — Federal investigators have arrested an enigmatic Wall Street wiz on insider-trading charges — and incredibly, he claims to be a time-traveler from the year 2256!
Sources at the Security and Exchange Commission confirm that 44-year-old Andrew Carlssin offered the bizarre explanation for his uncanny success in the stock market after being led off in handcuffs on January 28.
“We don’t believe this guy’s story — he’s either a lunatic or a pathological liar,” says an SEC insider.
“But the fact is, with an initial investment of only $800, in two weeks’ time he had a portfolio valued at over $350 million. Every trade he made capitalized on unexpected business developments, which simply can’t be pure luck.
“The only way he could pull it off is with illegal inside information. He’s going to sit in a jail cell on Rikers Island until he agrees to give up his sources.”
The past year of nose-diving stock prices has left most investors crying in their beer. So when Carlssin made a flurry of 126 high-risk trades and came out the winner every time, it raised the eyebrows of Wall Street watchdogs.
“If a company’s stock rose due to a merger or technological breakthrough that was supposed to be secret, Mr. Carlssin somehow knew about it in advance,” says the SEC source close to the hush-hush, ongoing investigation.
When investigators hauled Carlssin in for questioning, they got more than they bargained for: A mind-boggling four-hour confession.
Carlssin declared that he had traveled back in time from over 200 years in the future, when it is common knowledge that our era experienced one of the worst stock plunges in history. Yet anyone armed with knowledge of the handful of stocks destined to go through the roof could make a fortune.
“It was just too tempting to resist,” Carlssin allegedly said in his videotaped confession. “I had planned to make it look natural, you know, lose a little here and there so it doesn’t look too perfect. But I just got caught in the moment.”
In a bid for leniency, Carlssin has reportedly offered to divulge “historical facts” such as the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden and a cure for AIDS.
All he wants is to be allowed to return to the future in his “time craft.”
However, he refuses to reveal the location of the machine or discuss how it works, supposedly out of fear the technology could “fall into the wrong hands.”
Officials are quite confident the “time-traveler’s” claims are bogus. Yet the SEC source admits, “No one can find any record of any Andrew Carlssin existing anywhere before December 2002.”
1 commentHmm… media rant
I really don’t know why people continue to watch the evening news and read newspapers. Do they know how biased it is? I did a course on media literacy at TAFE a few years back and it was one of the most insightful, eye-opening courses I’ve ever taken.
Do you ever question what you see and read on the news? What about those investigative shows like “Today Tonight”? They have such shocking stories, which often make us question our faith in humanity… did you ever pause to wonder if they show both sides to the story in a truly balanced way? There are always two sides to every story.
“News” networks and many journalists out there are brilliant at twisting events to make them seem more sensationalist. It’s all about entertainment and ratings darling. Bad news sells. What shocks, ROCKS.
I recently saw a report on the American ABC’s TV show 20/20. From first glance it appeared to be legit and it brought up all sort of negative emotions in me. Then I got with it and realised that only morons blindly believe what they read on the internet and watch on television. I decided to do some more research, and I uncovered the FULL INTERVIEW with this particular person. After viewing the whole story, I not only realised that this person was completely legitimate, but I was disgusted at how the final news story had been EDITED to portray him in a negative light, in order to suit the bias of the story. They completely ignored most of what the poor guy being interviewed said. If they had done further research they would have seen that the facts he cited to back him up were legit (I guess they thought that would be boring and so they wouldn’t have a story!). Yes, I do love a bit of research!
Seriously, when even the best recognised “news” sources put such a biased slant on stuff, why even bother to watch it? Try switching off the TV and think for yourself for one hour a day, and see what happens ;p
I promise that anything truly newsworthy will reach you by means of word of mouth and you won’t miss a thing!
