Theatre opening night #1 “The Reunion”
A few weeks ago my friend Samara (who’s a theatre publicist) took me to see my first in a long line of theatre opening nights. First call, “The Reunion” at Metro Arts. Kicked ass! If it was showing for longer I would have seen it again. Very funny, very cool. It made me ponder… if I ran into my 17 year old self what would I say to her?
“Hang on tight sweetie, life may suck for a while but then it’s gonna be awesome!”
“You will also get to dress up for theatre opening nights and take silly photos of yourself on your new digital camera”…
1 commentMe with long hair?
OMG look at these old pics I dug up… oh to be 19 again…
A few old friends recently mentioned to me that they think I looked better with longer hair. Admittedly, they were also guys I used to date so I’m not sure if that means anything, but as I’m still manless that got me thinking…
As one of my best mates said to me,
“I must admit that your usual hotness is eccentuated when you have long hair, and instead of you just being super mega hot, you’re super mega ultra hot, full of awesomness”…
*sigh*
So, do I try the long hair again? Maybe I should set up a poll…
1 commentMoulin Rouge costuming
Yes, we all know that I was a movie extra in “Moulin Rouge”, much to the delight of my new housemate Narelle who is planning a Moulin Rouge shadowcast performance in Brisbane next year. She is also an amazing costumer. Look what she made from scratch by hand… apparently it’s the closest reproduction in existence to Nicole Kidman’s headdress from the movie. (The chain is hanging slightly lower here because it was designed to sit atop a wig).
Narelle is an amazing costumer. If you see something you like in a movie or TV show or even a painting, she will draft out the patterns from scratch and have the outfit delivered to you within the week (depending on how much you are paying her and how busy she is).
Her company name is “Threadworx”. Her spiffy new website (which I am totally going to make for her) will be coming soon!
Ahoy! It’s International “Talk Like a Pirate” day
Yaar!
Happy international “Talk Like a Pirate” day wenches!
To “celebrate”, here are the long awaited pirate photos from when me and my crew joined forces with the crew from Brisbane Fan Force to run amok in the regent cinema for the opening of the latest “Pirates of the Carribean” movie. The theme? Pirates VS Ninjas! I think we kicked those ninja arses, yaar!
(see the photo gallery pages for more photos from the event…)
Ballina mid ‘07
A few months ago I went to visit my mum and step-dad in Ballina, and had the added bonus of catching up with my little cousins from
I educated them about the “real” (classic) Ninja Turtles (thanks Youtube) after watching the horrifying new version on TV. They have no eyes dude- how freaky!
After that I educated them about classic shows like “Monkey Magick”. By this stage they were really loving Youtube - especially the jokes we found about Buddha farting (farting, I have discovered, is a popular topic with kids these days).
For the next few hours we were entertained by a variety of videos discovered after typing the word “poop” into the search box. The highlight there was definitely the elephant who ate its own faeces. Classic comedy- I mean how can you go possibly wrong with that?
Other highlights of the trip included:
A visit to the
- Mini-golf
- Buying pink sparkly bags and pirate flags in the gift shop
- Petting bunny rabbits
- Playing hide-and-seek in the playground and me getting stuck in the children’s cubby house (they just don’t make em my size)
- The coolest tree house ever (I want one!)
- Petting a cockatoo despite the sign saying not to
- Catching baby chickens and petting them because they were so damn cute… then getting scratched as they tried to get away…
Tenpin Bowling…
- My 5 year old cousin (first time bowling) beat us all!
- I realised it’s harder than the Nintendo Wii bowling game
- Home-cooked (or is that 2 words?)
- Lemon
- Meringue
- Pie
